Camelot represents a society in perfect harmony, I’d say that describes this campground pretty damn well. After driving 17 hours to California to meet up with Jindi and Gemma, the community at Camelot was exactly what my soul needed. Micheal (Owner), his girlfriend Leslie, Mark and Kevin who also live on the property truly make you feel so welcome. I felt like I got a small taste of life on a commune between community dinners, live music courtesy of Micheal and truly authentic conversations over a cup of coffee with all the fellow campers. I was eager to learn more about this place. After hours chatting with Micheal about the history of this space and his future intentions for it, I learned that he has had this land for over 20 years, has gone through many different projects and had only been in business as a campground for 4 weeks at the time. He spent lots of time getting raw, honest feedback from all the campers to truly make this an inviting and open environment. He plans to invite more musicians to come and play on weekends and hopefully host a podcast right from the campsite. The overall hope for Camelot is to be a place where people can come together in community, despite any differences. Which is so desperately needed in our society and I hope to create my own version one day. Leaving Camelot felt like leaving home all over again. I feel so grateful to have seen it in its beginnings stages because I know it will take off and I will absolutely be back to see it.
